Michelle Lynn (Decker) Pfoutz

Michelle Lynn (Decker) Pfoutz, known as Shelly to many, suddenly and tragically passed away on Tuesday at the age of 48. She brought light, laughter, and joy to world, and left a lasting impact on all who were lucky enough to know her.

Michelle was born in Guthrie, Oklahoma, and graduated from Guthrie High School and earned a degree in Education from University of Central Oklahoma. Michelle was a talented athlete and avid sports fan. She played basketball and softball during her high school years, and played basketball at the college level for one year at Western Texas College.

Michelle enjoyed a 25 year career as an elementary school teacher. She was a beloved teacher who cared deeply for her students, many of whom she remained connected with even to this day. Michelle began her teaching career with Mid-Del Public Schools, and then went on to teach in Putnam City Schools, Camp Hill Presbyterian Church Preschool (Pennsylvania), and Moore Public Schools.

Michelle is preceded in her death by her mother Linda Decker, father Michael Decker and grandparents JoAnn and Earl Martin. Michelle is survived by her loving husband, John Pfoutz; sons Johnny and Jack Pfoutz of Mustang; daughter Danielle Weatherholtz, husband Kodi, and granddaughters Emalyn and Rosalie of Westerville, Ohio; brother Mike Decker and Theresa of Edmond; and countless family members, friends, colleagues, and students who loved her. Michelle’s fun-loving spirit, kind heart, and beautiful smile will be missed by all who knew her.

Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life service on Thursday December 2, 2021 at 4:00pm at First Baptist Mustang, 928 North Mustang Road Mustang, OK 73064. In the spirit of Michelle’s love of OU football, the family invites attendees to wear attire from their favorite college sports teams (yes, even OSU fans are welcome!).
