Mona Marie Cutler Simpson grew up on her family’s farm southeast of Guthrie, Oklahoma. She attended Oak Ridge School through fourth grade when she transferred to Guthrie Public Schools. She graduated from GHS in 1955.
She married Richard Simpson on September 5, 1954. They have been married sixty seven years and raised three sons. Mona trusted the Lord at age eighteen and faithfully served the Lord everywhere she lived: working with children and youth, and cooking at Falls Creek every summer while her sons were growing up. She was a member of Noble Avenue Baptist Church in Guthrie.
Mona is preceded in death by both parents, James Vernon Cutler and Jane Inskeep Cutler; an older sister, Viola Mae Albury; and two brothers, Ivan Leonard Cutler and Alvin Bernard Cutler.
She is survived by her devoted and loving husband, D. Richard Simpson; three sons, David and wife, Theresa of Wisconsin, Mark and wife, Judy of Sulphur, Oklahoma, and Glen and wife, Lynne of Edmond, Oklahoma; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 20, 2021at Noble Avenue Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, 220 North 1st St., Guthrie, OK 73044.
Visitation will be held Monday, 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home.
