Guthrie Public Library will be contributing to the city-wide trick or treat festivities for Guthrie on Halloween day, October 31 with its second annual Trunk or Treat event. The Guthrie Public Libraries Trunk or Treat event lets businesses pass out candy in the libraries parking lot from the trunk of their vehicles.
This year’s Trunk or Treat is “Movies” themed, and the library staff will be dressing up as characters from Alice in Wonderland.
“We are trying to get local businesses, especially those outside of the city limits to join us,” said Kris Kutay, the youth services librarian for the Guthrie Public Library. “Businesses who participate with us can bring treats and choose a theme to dress up for the “Movies” themed event. Decorating your vehicle for the event is encouraged but not required.”
Kutay finds the Trunk or Treat event to be special because of its ability to provide a fun, and safe environment for Guthrie Trick or treaters, as well as bring the community together.
“As a children’s programmer, I love getting to serve the children. I also love bringing the community together. The businesses that come participate are great to work with and have a heart for service, and for this community,” Kutay said. “We know this is a fun and safe environment for the kids because our parking lot will be closed off, and the space is a great way to go trick or treating in a contained area.”
There are 15 Trunk or Treat spots available for local businesses to participate and pass out candy. If your business is interested in getting involved with the fun, please contact Kris Kutay of the Guthrie Public Library at 405-282-0050 or email@example.com
