Stuff the Bus has officially begun and donation boxes will be located all around town by July 12. From preschool through 12th grade, all funds will go directly to Guthrie Public School teachers for school supplies and other classroom necessities.
“We always want to support our schools as much as we possibly can and this is a really simple way,” Tracy Zserdin, President and CEO of Guthrie Chamber of Commerce, said.
Running all summer until the Wednesday before school starts, this year’s fundraiser has something new in store. Through a partnership with Feed the Children of Oklahoma City, when all the boxes are collected and weighed—Feed the Children will match what is donated pound for pound.
Direct donations aside, there are a couple of different ways for people to get involved. Oklahoma State Bank is hosting a bake sale every Friday from now until school starts and all the proceeds will go directly to Stuff the Bus. The full list of supplies will be available at Chamber Coffee on Wednesday, so if a business wants to sponsor a specific classroom, age group or a certain school, they’re more than welcome to do so. Not every school has the same needs but the goal remains the same.
Drop-off locations will include all the banks, Ace Hardware, Guthrie Police Department, Guthrie Public Library and donations are always accepted at the Chamber of Commerce office.
Any business is more than welcome to join and for more information, contact the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce at (405) 282-1947.
