Store Owner Charged with Distribution

The Guthrie Police served a search warrant yesterday at the Jeet Mart on West Noble Avenue
in Guthrie.

Officers arrested 58-year-old Majit Hayer, owner of Jeet Mart, for felony possession of a
controlled substance with the intent to distribute. Charges have been formally filed by the Logan
County District Attorney. Meanwhile, investigators are continuing to wrap up their investigation
and turn over their completed findings to the DA’s office.

These latest charges are a repeat offense for Hayer, who was arrested in 2019 and charged
with nine counts of EBT fraud and dealing methamphetamine out of his store. Court documents
stated Hayer would provide customers ineligible items such as tobacco, gasoline, or cash in
exchange for SNAP benefits. Hayer would then remove the “extra” benefit from the account.
He pleaded guilty to those charges in 2021 and received a 5-year suspended sentence and
probation that included regular drug testing. However, in court filings from March of this year,
prosecutors had moved to revoke Hayer’s suspended sentence citing he had violated his
probation by repeatedly failing drug tests and falsifying medical prescription lists.

He is scheduled to go before Judge Louis Duel for formal revocation on June 28, 2023.
The warrant served yesterday will stand for a new set of charges that will now go before Logan
County District Judge Philip Corley.
