Special Use Permit Approved

On Tuesday, Guthrie City Council unanimously approved Judge Frank Dale’s house special use permit for a bed and breakfast. 201 N. 13th.

Built in 1902 by Judge Frank Dale, designed by JH Bennet, who also designed the Carnegie Library. The home, once donned one of the most luxurious homes in the State of Oklahoma, by one of the wealthiest men of the territory at the time.

Judge Frank Dale, moved to Oklahoma from Wichita on April 22, 1889. He set up practice immediately and soon became a Territorial Supreme Court Justice appointed by President Grover Cleveland. During his lifetime Judge Dale was a teacher, an attorney, a judge, and a businessman.

In keeping with Judge Frank Dale’s legacy, the bed and breakfast is appropriately named the Judges Chambers. The owner’s intent is to create an experience of the history of the time period.

The home has never been open to the public, however, was historically the venue for high society soirees. The owner’s and operators of the Judge’s Chambers intend to provide a unique experience unlike any other available in the surround area.
