The Guthrie News Leader has learned that Lance Solomon, 55, who was convicted on October 29, 2019 in the murder of James Fox in south Logan County has passed away after an extended illness. Solomon was to be sentenced this week on the conviction. The jury had recommended life without parole in October and it was anticipated that Logan County Associate Judge Luke Duel was going to follow that recommendation.
The case started in January 2015, but it was estimated that the actual death probably occurred around December 2,2014.
Solomon had a month lead on authorities and when they caught up with him in Michigan, it took six months to get Solomon extradited back to Oklahoma.
It took two trials to get a conviction as the first trial ended with a 6-6 hung jury in October 2017. The second trial in 2019 took six days to complete and the jury deliberated two hours before returning the guilty verdict.
Solomon had been in custody at the Logan County Detention Center for the entire time, until having to be hospitalized in December at Mercy Hospital-Oklahoma City.
