Santa Claus is flying into the Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport on Saturday, Dec. 14. The event is free and open to the public from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport and other great local businesses, including Rick’s Fine Chocolates and Coffees which will be providing the hot chocolate. For those who plan to take a photo with Santa, please bring your own camera.
Schellon Stanley, the airport director at Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport, said the idea is to get as many families and kids to attend as possible. The volunteers will be dressed with Santa hats on and passing out candy canes to make sure everyone has a good time.
“It’s all about building relationships with the community,” Stanley said. “I want everyone to leave feeling happy and excited about the airport. That’s why we bring these events to Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport, to share with the community about what a fantastic airport they have.”
This year, Santa may have a few helpers with him. For the past two years, Santa’s wife and daughters have joined him with his daughters dressing up as elves, and last year Santa brought his dog.
Stanley said that during her time as airport director the weather has only been an issue once, but they are prepared and can adjust to colder temperatures. Santa shows up rain or shine.
