While Oklahoma budget cuts have reduced classroom funding, one local business is offering a way to help teachers and students get back to school right this year by simply getting an insurance quote.
“With all the budget cuts our state was going through last year, I wanted to be able to give back to our teachers in whatever way I could,” Foundation Insurance agent Blake Whimsey said.
According to Whimsey, anyone who receives a quote from Foundation Insurance between August 15th and September 15th is eligible to select their favorite classroom to receive a $25 donation.
“The money goes straight to that teacher’s classroom fund so the teacher can use the $25 however they wish,” Whimsey said. “Anyone who receives an auto, home, life or business insurance quote is eligible to help donate—and no, you do not have to change your insurance... Unless you want to, of course!”
This is the second year Foundation Insurance is partnering with schools.
One client saved more than $2,000 by getting thier quote from Foundation Insurance last year and a teacher in McLoud, OK received $75. Mrs. Onley at Fogarty received $50 for her classroom from citizens participating in the program.
Living in Guthrie is not required to be eligible for the insurance quote and patrons may also donate to any classroom in the state of Oklahoma.
“If you don’t have a specific classroom to list, but still want a quote, we will donate your $25 to the school district,” Whimsey said. “Your insurance does not have to be up for renewal to get a quote.”
“It was such a win-win because last year I was able to provide insurance solutions for several new clients, and that created a new revenue stream for me to give back to our schools. Everyone is happy because my clients are saving money, the teachers get additional funds, and it helps me build my business and support my family,” Whimsey said.
