Over the weekend, Guthrie Lodge 35 hosted their annual “Walk For A Cause” event, benefiting Peppers Ranch Foster Care Community. This event raises funds for the nonprofit, whose mission is to break the cycle of child abuse and neglect for Oklahoma foster children.
While it was another great year for the event, this one was a bit different than in years prior. Beloved Philip Moseley passed away a week prior to the event. Moseley was not only a shining light for Guthrie Lodge 35, but also for the entire Peppers Ranch community.
“Phil was in charge of obtaining sponsors for the event and every year it grew bigger and better than the last,” Executive Director Tonya Ratcliff said. “He was so dedicated to everything he did, and he did it with integrity and pride. Most importantly he did it with a smile. “Walk For A Cause” was more than just a another fundraiser, it was a ‘fan raiser’ in Phil’s mind. He truly wanted to engage as many people as possible in the event and lend a hand to one day end foster care crisis.”
Ratcliff says that this event will always be a reminder of Moseley’s passion.
“Phil’s memory will live on not only through this continued event, but also in the hearts and minds he invested in through intentional conversation, coffee and his unforgettable laugh,” Ratcliff said. “We tip our hat to him. Phil was a friend of so many, and it was an honor to watch him make the world a better place.
