THE GUTHRIE PUBLIC LIBRARY IS CLOSED, MONDAY OCTOBER 8 TO OBSERVE COLUMBUS DAY.  THE LIBRARY WILL REOPEN ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 9 AT 9:00 AM. 

On October 31 from 3 - 6 p.m. the library will have a Trunk or Treat along with local businesses in the library parking lot in conjunction with the downtown trick or treat walk. For more information on being a part of the behind-the-scenes action, contact Kris Kutay at kkutay@cityofguthrie.com.

October 31st Halloween Party, participants are welcomed to dress up and bring snacks to share if desired. 

Thursday, October 4th & 18th from 3:30 – 5:00 PM, and Tuesday, October 9th & 23rd from 1-2 PM. Lego Club: Create, Build, Learn, and have Fun! RSVP for this event. All Ages Welcome. Please keep your Legos at home unless you wish to make a donation to the Guthrie Library.

Wednesday, October 17th from 4 – 5:30PM, Rock Painting Party: All materials provided, join us for an afternoon of painting and hiding rocks.

Monday, October 15th from 4 – 6 PM, (Ages 9-12) #NationalCakeDecoratingDay: 

Tweens ages 9 – 12 are welcomed to join us at the Guthrie Public Library for a tasty experience. Participants will learn how to decorate a pumpkin cake and grave stone cookies. All materials provided. MUST RSVP for this event, space is limited.

Thursday, October 11th 6-7:30pm- Magic the Gathering: If you are a complete novice or have been playing for years, there is something for you! Freebies for participants, namely 2019 Core set boosters. So bring your deck (or use one of ours) and get ready for battle!

Thursday, October 18th 6-8pm- Anime Night:  We will choose a series; all titles are age appropriate.  Snacks available.

Thursday, October 25th 6-7:30pm- Costume Contest: Get dressed up as your favorite character or come as an original idea! Pizza, games, and a parade. Swag for 1st, 2nd, and  3rd places. 

Adult Events: 

Mondays in October 4:30-5:30pm- Greek Classes: Professor Paul Epstein, OSU Emeritus Personnel, will continue a series of Greek classes at the library.  Learn to read Ancient Greek! (excluding Monday, October 8 – Columbus Day Holiday)

Tuesday, October 9th 9:30 – 11:30 AM Communication Apps on Your iPhone: Discover the basic skills to reach the millions of customers and products on eBay. You will develop searching skills, make your sale items stand out, learn selling skills to get you high ratings, get paid fast and easy, and practice safe buying and selling. 

Tuesday, October 9th 6-7pm- Guthrie’s Writers Group: This month we will cover NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). We will discuss the website and tools needed to reach your goal. 

Tuesday, October 16th 6-9pm- Tipsy Artist Night: Enjoy this teacher guided painting.  Participants can choose between two (2) options.  Space is limited.  RSVP by calling 282-0050 ext. 3. Location:  Tipsy Artist, 117 W Harrison Ave. 

Wednesday, October 17th 12-1pm- Lunch and Learn: Samantha Stewart of Vance Insurance Group will discuss Auto Insurance and answer any questions you may have. 

Monday, October 22nd 6-8pm- Let’s Talk About It, Oklahoma!: Twisted Perception  by Bob Avey is the book this month.  If you are interested in joining our monthly book club, visit the Circulation Desk to sign up and pick of a copy of the book.

Tuesday, October 23rd 5-7pm- Coloring Club: Studies show that coloring is good for our health. It can relax and calm the mind, allowing you to have a couple of hours of stress free moments. All materials provided, just show up and color! For all ages. 

Friday, October 5th, 12th, 19th  & 26th  from 5 – 6 PM. Free Zumba Class: Enjoy this free Latin inspired fitness dance class. Participants must sign waiver. Space is limited, please RSVP for this event.

Saturday, October 27th 10am-12pm- Author Talk: Coauthor of "Haunted Guthrie," Tanya McCoy, will be here to talk about the book and show off some of her paranormal equipment. Stop in for a good chat and an up close and personal look at unique items.
