Meridian Technology Center Students Receive Memorial Scholarships

STILLWATER, Okla. – The Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education recently awarded scholarships to seven students from Meridian Technology Center.  

Jaci Deitrick, formerly of Newcastle; Jacob Liddy, formerly of Poteau; and Stillwater students Angelo Freytez, Keely Martin, Lauren Owens, Will Saravia and Ryan Williams received the Otha Grimes Memorial Scholarship.  

Otha Grimes was actively involved in agriculture, oil and gas production, and civic programs throughout the state. Grimes served as a member of the board of directors for the CareerTech Foundation. This scholarship is reserved for adult students who may not qualify for other scholarship opportunities or student assistance programs.  

The Otha Grimes Memorial Scholarship is awarded on the basis of commitment exhibited by the recipient. Funds can be used to assist winners with tuition, books and other direct expenses incurred for training.  

Meridian Technology Center has been a driver of economic development since 1975. With a mission to educate, enrich lives and secure economic futures, Meridian offers full-time career training programs, short courses, workforce and economic development assistance and entrepreneurial support to residents from the Agra, Carney, Glencoe, Guthrie, Morrison, Mulhall-Orlando, Pawnee, Perkins-Tryon, Perry and Stillwater school districts. Meridian is one of 29 schools within Oklahoma’s CareerTech system.
