Ten members of Macedonia Baptist Youth visited Gallery Grazioso Wednesday evening, October 23rd. The group and its leaders toured the gallery art collection and music and entertainment memorabilia before dinner and dessert in the gallery. Group leaders Michael Green, Schoronda Ervin, Kelvin Ervin, and joined Marie Vernon, curator, and Rick Hylland who encouraged members as they took to their palates, painting works of art especially for residents of Ash Street Place. 

Parnell, Amaya, Amara, Elise, Ashlynn, Syanna Smith, Keiyona Smith created multiple pieces of art, addressing each of them to a resident at Ash Street Place, an assisted living residence. The event was coordinated with activity Director, Traci Shelton who stated, “Our residents will have their own art day to do something for the children, too.”

After the event, Schoronda Ervin explained, “We had no idea the kids are so artistic. Let’s do it again.” 

The evening of community outreach through art appreciation and art creation was hosted by owners Gary and Cristina Good. The gallery is located at 301 W. Oklahoma Avenue. Macedonia Baptist Church at 1224 E. Springer Avenue is pastored by Gene and Chyerl Hardeman. Sunday classes are held at 9 a.m., Sunday worship is at 11 a.m.  Bible study is offered Wednesday’s at 6 p.m. Youth also meet every other Wednesday at 6 p.m.
