Orlando, Okla. Members of the Mulhall-Orlando FFA Chapter participated in Oklahoma State University’s Big 3 Field Days from July 16-18. They began preparing for this large livestock judging contest by having a workout on July 11 at J&J Cattle farm in Orlando. Mr. Mark Johnson went over three classes of heifers with them. On July 15, they attended NOC Sheep Field Day in Tonkawa. This event had eight classes of sheep and their Jr. FFA Team which consisted of Callen Oldenburg, KayLea Taylor, Baylee Brown, and Hanna Schmidt placed first in their age division. Callen Oldenburg was first place individual and Baylee Brown was sixth place individual. This contest helped them prepare for the OSU sheep field day which was held the following day in Stillwater at the Totusek Arena. Each day of the Big 3 contest members judged a different species of animals, sheep, cattle, and swine. Awards were given each day for judging that species, as well as at the end of the competition overall awards were given to the best placing individuals and teams. At the end of sheep day the M-O Jr. FFA Team was ranked 7th, after cattle day they were ranked 7th, and at the end of swine day they were 5th. They won
Overall Reserve Junior FFA Team. The Senior FFA competitors were Paige Day, Karlie Thomason, Ashlyn Larman, and Lane Blankinship. Casyn Larman also competed in the Junior FFA division. The M-O FFA members had a great time and learned a lot during this week full of livestock judging.
