A group of Mulhall-Orlando 8th, 9th, and 10th graders competed in several Leadership Development Events this fall. On October 8, FFA members traveled to Carney for their first competition. Those participating were the 8th grade creed team consisting of Kaylee Day, Casyn Larman, Hanna Schmidt, Lora Golay, and Briley Harman, and the opening ceremonies team Charley Johnson, Baylee Brown, KayLea Taylor, Grace Riggs, Mackenzie O’Neal, and Willie Schoonover. The Opening Ceremonies team placed third at this competition. The 8th grade creed team attended the Pawhuska Jr. Leadership Contest on October 10th and was the 1st place team. On October 15th the opening ceremonies team competed at the regional contest and placed 3rd. Callen Oldenburg also attended the regional contest and participated in the Greenhand Quiz and 9th grade Creed.
The opening ceremonies event introduces members to parliamentary procedure while learning how to conduct FFA meetings and build their communication skills.
The FFA Creed event is a great way for new members to learn and understand the meaning and spirit of FFA and agriculture. The greenhand quiz event teaches 9th grade members important history of the FFA organization, current state and national officers, as well as the components that make up the organization. These 8th, 9th, and 10th grade M-O FFA members have been working hard on leadership and public speaking skills. This hard work not only builds FFA members confidence, but also paves a path of success for their futures.
