The Knights of Columbus Council 916 of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Guthrie and St. Margaret Mary’s Church in Crescent have been very busy this early fall season.
The members had a Stuff the Truck with Turkeys event this last weekend to benefit God’s Food Bank. It is the first time for the drive. Forty-two turkeys and two hams for the food bank were collected that will be used as part of their Thanksgiving distribution this week. The food bank anticipates helping over 500 families this week with their Thanksgiving food.
The council also recently had a fund raiser where they had a pig butchered and divided up for four winners. Each winner will get about 45 pounds of pork. The proceeds are already going to work helping with Angel Tree Gifts at the church.
The council also held a soccer shootout in September at the church. This was also a first time event for the council. Twelve kids participated, and they hope to expand the event next year. The council is planning a free throw contest in January at St. Mary’s. Pre-registration is required. If interested email email@example.com and a form can be sent to the parent. The tentative date is Sunday January 12 starting at noon.
