LaMoyne Hardin learned early on that she liked to serve her community.
She was born and raised in Guthrie and spent six years in Kenya, East Africa, as her parents were missionaries there.
Hardin and her husband, Don, have been married almost forty years, have four children, and seven grandchildren with one on the way. They have owned Hardin Insurance Agency since 1990.
“All I have to offer is good service. I am local. Our family has a centennial farm. Guthrie is my home so I’m just a phone call or an appointment away. People who don’t know where my office is know where my home is. That’s part of being a local agent,” said Hardin.
For someone looking at going into the insurance business, she suggests looking at the companies you will represent.
“For me the main company I represent is American Farmers and Ranchers which is an Oklahoma-based company. I can always reach someone in Oklahoma. If I wanted to meet with the president of the company, I could. I think that’s really important,” Hardin explained.
When choosing an agent Hardin suggests doing your research as it’s important to choose a company who is local.
“You have to look at more than rates. When you need your agent, can you get a hold of them or do you get a machine? I think some years rates are better than others, but you really have to look at service over rates,” stated Hardin. “Rates are important, don’t get me wrong, but a local agent should make sure you’re getting the best rates.”
Hardin is proud that her company supports the community. American Farmers and Ranchers is farm based so they like to support local youth and their activities.
