The City of Guthrie hosted trash-off days on April 9-10. The city reported 49 customers used the convenience center on Friday, and 114 people used it on Saturday.
The city took in 120 yards of brush, 357 yards of trash, 70 yards of scrap metal and 126 tires.
Environmental Management Inc. (EMI) was on sight on April 10 and collected a wide array of hazardous chemicals to be disposed of. The list includes items such as flammable aerosols (50 pieces); flammable liquids (55 gallons); pesticides liquid toxic (50 pieces); pesticides solid toxic (100 pieces); corrosive liquid acidic inorganic (30 pieces); compound cleaning liquid (25 pieces); batteries wet filled with acid (200 pieces); lab pack nonhazardous chemicals (100 pieces); nonregulated alkaline batteries (100 pieces); compact fluorescent bulbs and lamps (30 pieces); nonhazardous used oil (105 gallons); and over 350 pieces of nonhazardous trash and debris.
The city reported there were 31 more customers than at the August 2020 event. There was 132 less yards of brush than in 2020, but 103 yards more trash. There were 60 less tires turned in on April 10 than in August, and EMI reported approximately the same amount of hazardous waste this year.
