The City of Guthrie got their monthly sales tax report from the Oklahoma Tax Commission last week and for the eighth month in a row the revenues were below the 2018 revenues. The good news is that the use tax which is now assessed by the state for internet sales was again over the 2018 numbers and has added an extra $154,828 to the city coffers this fiscal year.
The city received sales tax revenues of $536,297 this month. Those revenues are created off end of April sales and beginning of May sales. The June numbers represent a $19,643 decrease over 2018 or a 3.53 percent decrease over the 2018 numbers. For the current fiscal year that ends in September the city is down $378,697.49 or 7.53 percent to their 2018 numbers.
The June 2019 Use Tax revenue was up $15,206 or .46.38 percent compared to the 2018 numbers. The cumulative uses tax revenue was up $154,828 or 51 percent compared to the same first nine months of the 2018 budget.
The city revenue when combining the two different taxes is cumulatively down $223,852 for the year.
The sales tax numbers are the primary revenue source for the city annual budget.
