Friday night under the roof of the Lazy E Arena the Guthrie High School graduating class of 2021 gathered to commemorate a momentous journey. Having endured a teachers’ strike in 2018 and the COVID-19 pandemic, the class had plenty to celebrate.
The class of 173 graduates heard speeches from valedictorians Paige Ledington, Hannah Ross and Keegan Simpson. School Board President Jennifer Bennett-Johnson presented the diplomas to the graduates and Class President Bailey Waggoner led the turning of the tassel.
The graduation ended with a tradition familiar to every graduate as the GHS Band performed the Alma Mater.
