The First Christian Church of Guthrie recently celebrated their 130th anniversary as a congregation in the Guthrie community.
Reverend Ronnie Fields reflected on the churches long history and service to Guthrie.
“We were here before the land run,” Fields said. “We have been in Guthrie for 130 years. A group of members met under a tree the Sunday before the land run, and we have been a congregation ever since.”
Since the congregation did a special service and celebration for their 125th anniversary, the church is celebrating 130 years by reflecting upon their proud history and continuing to serve the Guthrie community in the present.
“I think the church has always been glad to be a part of the community,” Fields said. “We have always been thankful to be able to serve.”
With that that mission in mind, the congregation is preparing for their annual Family Fall Festival community carnival on October 27 from 4-6 p.m. at the church located at 402 E. Noble, in Guthrie. There will be games, hot dogs, cake walk, and prizes.
The annual event is free of charge, and a great way to gather together as a community and celebrate the season, and all community members are welcome. To learn more about the First Christian Church of Guthrie visit them at 402 E. Noble Ave. or call 405-282-4080.
