- Monday citizens from around Logan County joined in remembering Martin Luther King, Jr. through the Annual MLK Day Service of Remembrance and Parade which happened in Downtown Guthrie. Guthrie’s annual parade began in 1991. After President Reagan signed the federal holiday into law in 1983, and Oklahoma first observed it in 1986. In Dec. 1990, the City of Guthrie adopted Martin Luther King, Jr. Day as an official holiday with the help from the Logan County N.A.A.C.P. Photo by Brett Tennyson
