Last year’s All State Junior High Choir was invited to sing for the OSSBA/CCOSA 2019 Education Leadership Conference opening session Friday. Guthrie was well represented by three members of the All State Choir; Sophomores Sophie Evans and Makayla Deloney and Freshman Connor Irwin. Choir Director (and so much more) Bill Perring accompanied them to the event and encouraged, “Way to go Sophie, Connor, and Makayla.”
The Oklahoma State School Boards Association and Cooperative Council for Oklahoma School Administration are holding their annual conference at the Cox Convention Center having started Thursday and going through Sunday and it is well attended by school board members and administration from most schools in the state. Guthrie High School principal, Chris LeGrande, is the president of CCOSA this year.
The Guthrie Public Schools cultural arts programs excel regionally in all disciplines. GPS is fortunate to have always had a dedicated staff of instructors and mentors for the arts programs. This factor, along with the support of GPS administration and board members, has led to the development of one of the strongest and most well-rounded arts programs in the state.
Providing students with exposure to opportunities to hone their crafts and get in front of audiences such as this one is important to the development of each student. Both the visual and performing artists in Guthrie are afforded every advantage and are able to constantly ameliorate their skillsets.
Congratulations to our All State members. Thank you for representing your community so well.
