Friends Book Sale Canceled

The annual used book sale of the Friends of the Guthrie Public Library, normally held on the first week of February - like so many events during this pandemic - has been canceled. Calvin Selman, President of the Friends of the Guthrie Public Library, says that the current realities of this crazy year has caused the sale to be canceled.

"COVID-19 has closed the venue we normally use for the sale - and has also shut down the Guthrie Job Corps Center, which provides student help for the sale. Add the fact that our book donations are down - and we are simply unable to have the sale, which is bad because this is the main fundraiser for the Friends."

The Friends hope to schedule other fundraisers in this coming year and are hoping - and planning - to continue the sale next year. In the meantime, we are asking our members and other book lovers in our community to support us in our mission to help keep our library a vital part of our community.
