First in the State

The American Legion LeBron Post 58 in Guthrie, Oklahoma, led by Commander Kim Vincent, Chaplain George Shafer, and Sergeantat- Arms Michael Manning, proudly holds the distinction of being the first Purple Heart Post in the state. Guthrie is recognized as a Purple Heart city, Logan County as a Purple Heart County, and Oklahoma as a Purple Heart state.

To demonstrate support for military personnel, local businesses have partnered with Post 58 to create dedicated parking spaces for Purple Heart recipients. Braum’s and Walmart led the charge by introducing the first Purple Heart parking in the state. Many other local companies and organizations have followed suit, including Walgreens, Love’s Travel Stops, Sam’s Club, Showbiz Cinemas, Crest, and Generations Church. The Post expresses gratitude for these collaborations and emphasizes that more signage will be installed soon at these locations.

These initiatives showcase the community’s strong support for veterans, current military members and their families, and the American Legion.

The American Legion LeBron Post 58 thanks the community for its ongoing support and honors all Veterans, particularly Purple Heart recipients, as well as those currently serving. They also acknowledge the sacrifices made by family members, and they love and appreciate all who commit to the protection and service
