Fatality Accident

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has identified the fatality from the accident on Interstate 35 on Sept.17. Harry B. Hueston, 24 of Kernersville, North Carolina was killed when his 2010 Honda Civic ran into the back of a semi-truck trailer around 10 a.m.

The accident happened near the 157 mile marker in the southbound lanes. Hueston was pronounced deceased at the scene by Guthrie Fire Department personnel due to head, and trunk internal injuries. Hueston was transported to the Oklahoma State Medical examiner’s Office in Oklahoma City for further investigation.

The truck was a 2015 Freightliner driven by Gilay Y. Kifle,36, of Houston, Texas and he was not injured in the accident.

The OHP reports that both vehicles were southbound on the interstate at the time of the accident, when Hueston’s Honda Civic ran into the back of the trailer. The OHP report also indicates that the investigation and further details are still being checked out and the driver’s condition in both vehicles apparently were normal. The condition of Hueston and the cause of the collision are notated as under investigation on the accident report.

Seat belts were available in both vehicles but only being used in the semi-truck. Airbags did deploy in the Hueston vehicle.

The accident scene was handled by a host of OHP troopers and supervisors, the Guthrie Fire Department, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s Office.
