(STILLWATER, Oklahoma, Nov. 30, 2021) — Oklahoma State University is slated to receive donations Wednesday morning from 15-20 public schools. The event is part of the Cowboys for Veterans Christmas bag program, which kicked off last month following the grand reopening of the Student Veteran Success Center on the Stillwater campus. The project began with OSU joining a locally established philanthropy project to collect 800 holiday gift bags for veterans in veterans centers and hospice care across the state.
WHAT: Cowboys for Veterans Christmas bag program drop-off
WHEN: 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Wednesday Dec. 1
SCHEDULE:
9:30-11 a.m. – OSU volunteers will receive buses dropping off donations starting at 10 a.m., then unload bags.
11- noon – Bags will then be sorted to get ready for veteran centers to pick up.
12:30-1:30 p.m. – Veteran centers pick up bags to distribute across the state.
WHERE: O’Brate Stadium
ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Pistol Pete and Eskimo Joe’s mascot Buffy will make an appearance in the morning. Oklahoma Department of Veteran Affairs Executive Director Joe Kintsel is slated to make an appearance from 12:30-1:30 p.m. First Cowboy Darren Shrum will make an appearance during the event as well.
