State lawmakers recognized Guthrie’s history, business growth and community spirit during the second annual Guthrie Day at the Capitol, organized by the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce.
The event brought Guthrie to the Capitol, where Sen. Chuck Hall and Reps. Collin Duel and John Pfeiffer formally welcomed the delegation. A citation honoring Guthrie Day was read on the Senate floor, recognizing the city’s roots as Oklahoma’s first capital and its continued growth in small business and the film industry.
Mayor Adam Ropp attended alongside City Manager Eddie Faulkner, as well as Guthrie business owners, community leaders and residents.
Lawmakers also adopted Senate Resolution 33 honoring former Guthrie resident Oscar J. Upham, a decorated veteran and public servant. The resolution recognizes his military service and the naming of the Guthrie post office in his honor. Family members attended the presentation. Photo submitted
