American Legion Post 58 donated a flag and held a flag-raising ceremony following the installation of Charter Oak Elementary School’s flag pole on Thursday morning.

“Our flag is a symbol of who we are,” Jerry Ball, Commander of the American Legion LeBron Post 58 said. “That’s why we do this.”

The principal of Guthrie’s first new school built since 1989, Jeff Ball, said they were honored to be given the flag and watch it fly for the first time on school grounds.

“It’s a great honor to receive the flag from American Legion Post 58,” Jeff Ball said.

“The flag is the symbol of America and its stars and its stripes will forever fly. That’s why we’re here,” Jerry Ball said, “for honor and country. We love the flag and we will defend it.”

In honor of American freedom, high quality polyester flags are available for purchase at the American Legion for $2 each.
