The American Legion Post 58 was at Honor Park on August 26, 2022, for a laying of replacement bricks. There were worn bricks that could not be read. By a donation of $500 from an American Legion member, we were able to replace 19 bricks in the first row in front of the Monuments .
The American Legion welcomes veterans, citizens, and businesses to help in this brick replacement project. Honor Park was established in 1989 to honor veterans and donors to the establishment of Honor Park. Honor Park is sitting on City of Guthrie property for all citizens to be part of the Park. All donations can be sent to the American Legion Post 58, P.O. Box 69, Guthrie, OK 73044. All donations will go toward replacement of worn bricks.
After the brick replacements, the American Legion Post 58 members held a remembrance reading of the names of the 13 military service members who died at the Afghanistan airport on August 26, 2021. A prayer was offered for the family and friends of members who gave their lives in service to our country, the United States of America.
Also, bricks can be bought for service members who served our country for $50 per brick. If you would like to honor your veteran at Honor Park, come into the American Legion Post on Mondays (9 am to 4 pm) to complete an application for a brick. Come to the office through the North door at 1st and Cleveland Streets. The American Legion appreciates all the support that the City of Guthrie has given us throughout our 100 years in Guthrie!
