’89er Days Celebration Returns for 2021

The annual ’89er Days Celebration is coming soon, and the committee is meeting weekly to finalize all of the activities and timing for this year’s celebration. The theme for this year is Honoring women in the military. The event dates are April 13-17.

The committee will soon have the annual button in multiple locations around town for $5.

The Guthrie News Leader will be selling buttons from the 2020 celebration that was canceled, as well as this year’s 2021 button. It will also have a table set up outside the office throughout the celebration, where people can buy buttons, special section and brochures.

The queen for this year is Rebeka Breger of Cashion. Breger is from Guthrie originally before moving to Cashion. Her family history can be traced back to the 1890s. Breger is currently a junior at Cashion High School, is active in cheerleading, softball, academic team and 4-H. As part of the Logan County 4-H, Breger participates in competitive shooting, equestrian president and other leadership activities. In her spare time Breger also competes with the Edmond Junior Rodeo and has won several events over the years. Breger’s goal after high school is to go to college and be a large animal vet.

The 2021 queen is Izzy Mariconda, and the 2021 princess is Harper LeCluyse.
