The 2021 89er Days Celebration Queen is Izzy Mariconda, 15, from Edmond. Mariconda is a freshman at Deer Creek High School. The queen is active in rodeo with barrel racing and roping. Mariconda owns a 19-year-old horse named Chip, and Lola is her rodeo horse.
When not at school, Mariconda is busy with 4-H and public speaking where she placed second in the Oklahoma County speech contest. She also volunteers with The Foundation of exceptional Warriors and Horseback Heroes. The 2021 queen is also vice-president of her 4-H chapter in Oklahoma County. Mariconda is the daughter of Paul and Holly Mariconda of Deer Creek.
The princess this year is Harper LeCluyse, 11, from Edmond. LeCluyse is a sixth grader at Sequoyah Middle School. She has been riding horses for seven years. She and her horse, Delilah, have competed in many local and national shows through 4H, POAC, and the Oklahoma Horse Show Association.
LeCluyse is an active member of the Edmond Light Horse 4H Club, where she currently serves as treasurer. Future plans include joining an equine judging team and competing against her peers. In her spare time, the 2021 princess is learning to break away rope and playing tennis with a local league. LeCluyse is the daughter of Blake and Allison LeCluyse of Edmond.
The queen and the princess were selected for the 2020 event as princess and sweetheart. Since the event was not held, they were elevated to queen and princess in 2021. The 2020 queen, Karlie Johnson, was not able to return for the 2021 event.
The queen was chosen through a committee of former queens and coordinator Carrie Fryer (1994 queen) with horse riding test and a speaking competition back before the 2020 event. The Queen and Princess will be making multiple appearances prior to and leading up to 89er Days and will also be leading the parade this year.
