Guthrie’s Owens Arts Place Museum will host a new exhibit featuring the work of Verlene E. Mahomes, a professional artist, sculptor and ceramist from Wichita, KS.
Mahomes developed her signature style, the Mahomes Canvas Manipulation Art Technique, after she prayed for a better way to express her creations through painting. She said the technique was revealed to her by God in a dream.
The show will open with a reception scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. Sunday at Owens Arts Place Museum, 1202 E. Harrison Ave. Entertainment will include open mic with brief storytelling, poetry and music. The show will be available for viewing through early December. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 1-4 p.m. Sundays. Viewing may be arranged at other hours by appointment.
