When the community comes together, everyone wins. Last Monday and Tuesday, 55 NORTH.CHURCH youth gathered to help beautify a house located across the street from Banner Park in Guthrie. The effort was part of the NORTH Students Serve Project for NORTH.CHURCH, which included youth from both their Guthrie and Oklahoma City locations. Between the two locations, the churches serve over 200 students.
“We always want to share the good that people are doing because it helps inspire everybody else to do things for one another. We try to use the term community wins quite a bit and hopefully this continues to cultivate the good things going on around the community,” said NORTH.CHURCH Location Pastor Gregory (Heady) Coleman.
The Standard is the core set of values NORTH.CHURCH abides by and that includes investing their best in the next generation. Student Pastor Christian Vélez does just that as he oversees the student ministries for both the Guthrie and OKC locations.
According to Vélez, NORTH.CHURCH offers services exclusively for students, service project opportunities, as well as a school of ministry to teach students how to be servant leaders to the church and to the community. The program not only leaves positive memories for the students, but also instills a commitment to service-based lifestyles.
“Most of the leaders we have on this project were students that did projects like this and they have come back to help us. They were passionate the moment we said we were going to do this,” explained Vélez.
The NORTHSTUDENTs Summer Camp, “Campference,” begins in July and registration is filling up fast.
