State Farm announced today that Charter Oak Elementary School is one of the 40 winning causes to receive their $25,000 Neighborhood Assist grant.
The school was entered in the contest by Carmen Walters, Executive Director of Federal Programs and Elementary Education at Guthrie Public Schools. During a 10-day voting period in August, the school earned enough votes from citizens to secure the grant.
The funds will go toward outdoor playground equipment for the newly opened school.
Charter Oak is one of two Oklahoma grant recipients. The Little Dixie Community Action Agency in Broken Bow, OK also earned the grant for their Southeastern Oklahoma Improving Childhood Education Initiative.
