Ralph Blair

Ralph Blair, a devoted family man, lifelong baseball enthusiast, and proud resident of Guthrie, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and community spirit.

Born to his loving parents, Ralph grew up in a close-knit family alongside his siblings Florence Mapel, Dorothy Enos, Albert Edward Blair, Donald Hugh Blair, and Kenneth Keith Blair. From an early age, Ralph developed a passion for baseball, a sport that remained central to his life. His talent and dedication led to one of his proudest moments, his induction into the Guthrie High School Sports Hall of Fame.

Throughout his life, Ralph wore many hats. He spent his career working hard, providing for his family, and making a difference in his community. After retirement, he embraced new pursuits, remodeling his home, enjoying rounds of golf, and sharing his love of storytelling through a weekly column for the Guthrie News Leader. In his writings, he recounted memories of childhood, hunting, fishing, and, of course, baseball, always capturing the essence of small-town life that he cherished so deeply.

A man of deep faith, Ralph was a longtime Southern Baptist who found joy in studying the Bible and attending church with his beloved wife, Naldia. His strong belief in the power of prayer and his willingness to offer wise counsel touched the lives of many, whether they were close friends, family members, or strangers in need. His faith journey took a profound turn later in life, influenced by the guidance and example of his grandson, Eston W. Blair. At the age of 91, Ralph made the decision to convert to Catholicism, a testament to his ever-growing spiritual path.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Naldia, his sisters Florence and Dorothy, and his brothers Albert, Donald, and Kenneth. He leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor his memory: Maury Blair, Eston Blair, Catherine Blair, and Sally and Troy Westmoreland.

Ralph Blair’s life was a testament to faith, family, and a love for the game of baseball. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 10:00 AM with Rev. James Wickersham officiating. Burial will follow at Summit View Cemetery.

Requiescat in Pace, Papa.
