Tedra Celeste Cantrell

1962-2025

Tedra Celeste Cantrell, age 62, of Guthrie, Oklahoma, passed away on May 2, 2025, at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on November 1, 1962, in Oklahoma City, Tedra was the daughter of Gerald Nimsey and Rosemary (Hunt) Nimsey. She married her best friend and partner in life, Troy Cantrell, on March 29, 1983, in Millington, Tennessee. Together, they shared over four decades of love, laughter, and unwavering support.

Tedra worked at Ash Street Place in Guthrie for 14 years, where she was known not just for her strong work ethic, but for the kindness and warmth she extended to coworkers and residents alike. She had a way of making people feel seen, heard, and cared for.

She was a devoted wife, a proud mom, and an adoring grandma. Her greatest joy in life came from her family. She leaves behind her husband, Troy Cantrell; her daughters, Melissa Cantrell and Sarah Galloway and husband Tyler; and her beloved grandchildren: Naima Smith, Delton ( Jr.) Smith, Izaiah Galloway, Elijah Galloway, and Mariah Galloway. She is also survived by her sisters, Susan Nimsey and Angela McAllister.

Tedra was full of personality and passion. A proud fan of the OKC Thunder and OSU, she cheered her teams on with unmatched enthusiasm. She loved Antiques Roadshow, Wheel of Fortune, Little House on the Prairie, and was a tennis fan to her core. Her connection to her Apache heritage was deeply meaningful, and she treasured her grandchildren beyond measure.

Originally from Oklahoma, Tedra lived in several places throughout the country while supporting her husband Troy’s military career. She eventually returned to Guthrie, where she made her home for the last 30 years, leaving a lasting mark on her community and everyone lucky enough to know her.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Hayes Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Mike DeMoss officiating.

Tedra’s legacy is one of strength, warmth, and deep love and it will live on in every story told, every laugh shared, and every heart she touched.

Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home. Friends and family may sign the online guestbook at hayesfh.com.
