Fatal Collision on I-35 Claims Life of Kansas Man, 19

Guthrie, OK – A vehicle collision that occurred on Tuesday (March 18) has claimed the life of a 19-year-old Kansas man on Interstate 35 southbound near Mile Marker 156 in Logan County.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Joshua C. Hicks of Manhattan, Kan., was driving a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee when the crash occurred at approximately 2:44 p.m. 

Hicks was pronounced deceased at the scene by Guthrie EMS due to injuries sustained in the collision. His body was transported by Alpha & Omega Mortuary Service to the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s Office in Oklahoma City.

Authorities have confirmed that a second vehicle may have been involved, although details remain unknown at this time. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Hicks was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, and the vehicle’s airbags were deployed. The roadway was dry, and weather conditions were reported as clear.

The crash is being investigated by Trooper Chad Pape of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol’s Traffic Homicide Unit. More information will be provided as the investigation unfolds.
