Charles Edward Crist, age 95, of Guthrie. Oklahoma departed this life on March 9, 2025.
He was the youngest of six children born to James T. and M. Frances (Osborne) Crist, November 27, 1929, at the family farm north of Crescent, Oklahoma. He attended rural schools and Crescent High School.He married Martharose Scott, November 27, 1948, and to this union a son, Steven, and daughter, Linda Sue, were born. After their divorce and several years later, he married Dolores Nelson Williams on June 30, 1961, at Raton, New Mexico, and they had one daughter, Lisa Michelle.He grew up on a farm learning the mechanics of machinery, and at age 15 drove a truck in the wheat harvest of Nebraska that led to a lifetime of trucking and eventually forming and operating a thriving company, C. E. Crist Trucking, Inc., hauling sand, gravel and road building material. The business expanded to include heavy construction operations of closing State abandoned mines, clearing land for construction sites, city landfills and shale pit operations. He and his wife owned and operated Lake Ridge Development Company, developing sub-divisions in Guthrie and on Lake Keystone, Oklahoma. He was noted for always practicing the Golden Rule.He loved cooking and drew rave reviews for his chicken and noodles. His passion was fishing but loved making many road trips with his wife across the U.S. plus visiting Hawaii and Alaska. He liked to boast of having been in all 50 states. His love for boats and his wife’s “Bucket List” inspired the purchase of an 80’ houseboat on Kentucky Lake, and with his wife and two friends sailed an adventurous 900 miles on six major rivers of America including the 'Mighty Mississip.' His most favorite hours were spent with his devoted family who brought him tremendous joy. He gave praises and thanks to God for his abundant Life.He is survived by his wife, Dolores, of the home, two daughters, Linda Harville, Edmond, OK, and Lisa Lantz and husband Brad, Kansas City, MO, a grandson John C. Harper, Kansas City, MO, two granddaughters, Tracy Harville, Edmond, OK, and, Emma Lantz, New York, NY, great granddaughter, Brittany Brown and greatgreat grandson Reznor Brown, and many other family members and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Steven Crist, and Monty Williams, great grandson Haydon Brown, four brothers, David, Robert, Merle and Jim, and sister Maribeth Oltmanns.Services will be held at Hayes Funeral Home Chapel, Guthrie, Oklahoma, on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 2:00 P.M., with Ron Nelson Officiating. Burial will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M, at Hayes Funeral Home.Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
