A Crescent man faces six felony charges and a $5 million bond in connection to multiple assaults that occurred Monday night.
Cody Lee Tonelis, 30, was arraigned Tuesday and charged with six felonies, including attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping, and four counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Toneli’s next court appearance is March 13 at 2 p.m. Tonelis has a history of criminal convictions across several counties including Logan, Oklahoma, and Cleveland counties.
According to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections website, Tonelis was released from DOC custody in December after serving part of a seven-year prison sentence for a larceny conviction in Logan County in 2021. Earlier this month, he was charged with second-degree robbery in Oklahoma County.
According to media reports, Guthrie dispatch received a report of an assault involving a female victim in the 800 block of Sooner Court. Guthrie paramedics and police officers responded to the scene and discovered two more victims suffering from injuries caused by blunt trauma from a sharp object.
While first responders were assisting the victims on Sooner Court, another assault was reported just two blocks away in the 1000 block of Pinebrook Drive. The victim identified Tonelis as the attacker, who fled the scene.
Law enforcement received reports of Tonelis attempting to break into nearby homes, police located him in the 800 block of North Eastridge Drive. After a short chase, police apprehended Tonelis in a wooded area east of North Eastridge Drive.
A knife was recovered from Tonelis during his arrest. Tonelis was later transported to Logan County Mercy Hospital for a medical evaluation. However, while handcuffed, he managed to escape from two police officers on foot. He was recaptured and returned to custody.
