Bonnie Irene Keller, born on December 5, 1938, to John W. and Sarah A. (Chandler) McKenzie, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025, in Guthrie, Oklahoma, surrounded by her family.
Bonnie graduated from Guthrie High School in 1957 and was a freshman at Central State College when she married Robert D. Keller on April 11, 1958. Their marriage lasted 31 years until Bob passed cancer.
In 1991, Bonnie moved west to Palm Desert, California to be near her daughter and young grandchildren. There, she enjoyed a successful career at Lowe Enterprises for 16 years before retiring. A woman of faith, Bonnie was an active member of the Desert Springs Church congregation for many years. Later, she returned to Guthrie to spend her final years in the care and company of her devoted family.
Bonnie loved to start every morning in quiet reflection with her prayer journal, and every evening with a Debbie Macomber novel. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, from camping trips to Disneyland, and many, many trips to the bookstore. She could be counted on to cheer for two things very loudly - OU touchdowns, and even the most modest accomplishments of her grandchildren.
A beloved “GiGi” to her great-grandchildren, she could always be trusted to brush out a tangled head of hair or listen patiently to a long-winded explanation of a new toy or TV show- and room could always be found on her lap for a fussy child.
She is survived by her children Robert Keller II, of Guthrie, Mary Keller, of Guthrie, and Janine Keller, of Guthrie; her brother Vernon McKenzie, of Guthrie, sister LaVonne McKenzie McConnico, of Edmond; grandchildren Hayley Garnica of Palm Desert, Robert Keller, of Stillwater, Kristen Dahlin, of Guthrie, Adama Hurlbut, of Santa Barbara, Elijah Keller, of Guthrie, and Aaliyah Keller, of Guthrie; great-grandchildren Anthony Garnica, Delilah Goold, Ethan Goold, and Sophia Dahlin. Bonnie is reunited in death with her husband Robert David Keller; parents John and Sarah Angeline McKenzie; brothers Loren McKenzie, Owen McKenzie, James McKenzie, Kenneth McKenzie, and Fred McKenzie.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
