Gary F. Prosser
Gary F. Prosser, 78, of Guthrie, Oklahoma, died at home following a cardiac event on May 31, 2024, with his loving wife by his side. He was born October 3, 1945, in Guthrie, the son of Verlin Francis and Willa Janice (Bridal) Prosser.
Gary graduated from Guthrie High School in 1963. Following graduation he served in the Air National Guard. He married the love of his life, Loretta Wright, in 1968, and they settled in Edmond, Oklahoma, where he worked for Southwestern Bell.
In 1978, Gary transferred with the telephone company to Salida, Colorado, where they raised their 2 daughters, Gerri (Kevin) Andreas and KayCee (Carlos) Rivera. While in Salida, he volunteered at different organizations, including Chaffee County Search and Rescue, Chaffee County Ambulance, Salida Fire Department, Chaffee County Sheriff Posse and Poncha Springs Fire Department. After 34 years with the telephone company, he retired and went to work for the Chaffee County Sheriff ’s Department.
He enjoyed golf, motorcycling, and coffee with friends.
Gary and Loretta retired to Yuma, Arizona, in 2009, where Gary was a member of the Elks. They enjoyed snowfree winters until they moved back to Guthrie in March of 2024.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife and daughters, as well as grandchildren, Colyn Stout of Colorado and Taylor Stout of Missouri; his sister, Peggy Momsen of Guthrie; and 2 great-grandchildren, Francis and Violet.
Per his request, no services will be held. Arrangements are under the care of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home in Guthrie.
