Pictured above, Bernadette Coleman of Spoonful Pharmacy and co-organizer of Guthrie Pride, double-checked the school supply donations made for Central Elementary first graders on Tuesday morning. The group Guthrie Pride collects donations that provide all school supplies needed for incoming first graders at Central. “The community really comes through to make all of this happen,” Coleman said. Because supplies are bought in bulk, costs can also be kept down to about $25 per backpack. “That is a lot cheaper than it would cost parents going out to buy supplies,” Coleman said. This year’s sponsors were Proud Dental, AC’s Hallmark, Red Sea Waterproofing and main funder Spoonful Pharmacy, owned by pharmacist Amy Carothers.
