A new urgent care, Xpress Wellness, is kicking off their opening activities with a launch party for the community. The free event will be held Saturday, January 11, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1201 S. Division and includes fun for the entire family. Free donuts from Missy’s and pizza will be provided along with gifts for the first 300 people to tour the clinic.
Grant Asay, the CEO of Xpress Wellness, said this event provides an opportunity to meet the entire staff as the nurses, medical assistants and providers will all be there in addition to company leadership. While people tour the facility, Xpress Wellness will have patients fill out the intake information so their first visit won’t be bogged down with paperwork, and the registration also puts their names in a hat for the gift giveaway drawings.
“We look forward to meeting as many people as can come through and tour the clinic,” Asay said. “As they tour the clinic, we will early register patients so that the check in process when they do come in is easier. That registration also puts their name in a hat for a whole bunch of drawings that we have for gift giveaways. We’ve got a 65” TV, Thunder tickets, an Echo Dot and then we’ve got gift cards for a lot of the local restaurants and businesses that are in town. We’ll have a drawing about every 30 minutes.”
Dr. Scott Williams, Xpress Wellness Founder and CMO, began the company after they saw the need for additional rural healthcare needs and overall access to rural healthcare while in an Elk City private practice. Xpress Wellness is entirely rural based and has a strong Oklahoma physician presence and Oklahoma ownership that really separates them from some of the big corporations out there. Both Oklahoma based and focused, their mission is about the why and not the what.
“My wife and I co-founded the business in mid 2013 and we do have a mission that’s a little bit different,” Dr. Williams said. “What I always tell people is that if you look at everybody’s website, they all say the same thing: this is what we do. But when we hire people, we try to focus on the why we do it. Our ‘why’ is what our real mission is. We believe if you can meet a need, you can make a friend. If you touch a life, you can make a difference. We have such a powerful presence and such a great opportunity to touch a human life every day in a positive way—that’s what this is really about. Everybody’s lives are really disturbed by all the outside things like marriage, divorce, drugs, finances, children; all of those things play a part in people’s health and so we try to hire providers who are empathetic and understanding and can help people work through other issues other than a sore throat.”
The Xpress Wellness team is looking forward to their future here in Guthrie.
“We’ve really fallen in love with the community and we’re as excited as we can be to come to Guthrie and take care of patients and have a strong presence,” Asay said.
Event activities will also include an inflatable 60-foot obstacle course and slide, bouncy house and more. The Guthrie Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting at the location at 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 11.
