Chris Powell, the leading candidate in the Libertarian gubernatorial primary, will host a town hall in Guthrie on May 17th. The event is free, open to the public, and will be held at the VFW at 5223 S. Division St. from 6 -8 p.m. Powell will talk about his campaign and take questions from those in attendance.
Powell, of Bethany, is a former state chair of the Oklahoma Libertarian Party. He also holds the distinction of being the the most successful candidate the OKLP has ever had. In 2016 he received 89,019 votes(36%) when he ran for Oklahoma County Clerk, beating LP presidential candidate Gary Johnson’s statewide total of 83,481. Powell and two other candidates will be on the on the Libertarian primary ballot for governor on June 26th. The winner will advance to the general election to face the nominees of the two other parties.
